Guava Purée or Fresh Guava (Quartered or sliced)
Instructions
If using fresh guava, wash the fruit and slice it into quarters or eighths. You can leave the skin on—no need to peel.
In a saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Add the guava to the saucepan and bring the mixture back to a gentle simmer.
Simmer for about 15 minutes, until the fruit is very soft and fragrant.
Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
