If summer had a flavor, I’m convinced it would be blueberry… or strawberry. Ok, it would be raspberry, but we are here to talk about blueberry simple syrup, so let’s stick with that for now.
Juicy, sweet, and just a little tart, blueberries make the perfect base for a vibrant simple syrup you’ll want to drizzle into everything.
This blueberry syrup is refreshing, colorful, and a fun way to bring seasonal fruit into cocktails, mocktails, iced tea, lemonade, or even breakfast dishes.

I love making a batch of simple syrup when my blueberries are at their peak.
Thankfully, my blueberry bushes in California are finally yielding a nice harvest, so I can save some for syrup and let me kids eat the rest.
Berries will always be a family favorite—my kids like it in sparkling water or over pancakes, while I keep mine for a blueberry gin spritz or mojito.

Tips for Best Results
Don’t mash the berries
Crushing them will cloud the syrup. Let them simmer and release flavor naturally.
Try frozen
No fresh blueberries? Frozen ones work just as well—just add a couple of extra minutes to the simmer time.
Play with sweetness
If you like a lighter syrup, cut the sugar back slightly or add a splash of lemon juice for balance. Blueberries are sweet on their own and don’t need a ton of help.
