Hot Girl Summer Gin Smash

Nothing says summer quite like fresh strawberries, mint, and a little sparkle — and this cocktail has all that with a spicy kick. The Hot Girl Summer Gin Smash is playful, refreshing, and just a touch bold thanks to hot honey syrup.

Muddled strawberries and mint bring brightness and sweetness, lime juice adds zing, and club soda keeps it crisp and light.

Hot Girls Summer Gin Smash

It’s the kind of cocktail that feels at home poolside, at a backyard BBQ, or wherever you’re soaking up sunshine.

Spicy-sweet, fruity, and fizzy, this gin smash is destined to be your go-to drink of the season, and it makes an equally great mocktail for those not looking for booze this year.

Twist Ideas

  • Berry Swap: Try raspberries or blackberries instead of strawberries.
  • Citrus Boost: Swap lime for lemon for a slightly softer sour note.
  • Extra Spice: Use all hot honey syrup (no dilution with regular honey) for more heat. Warning- this will be VERY hot and take over the strawberry and mint flavors.
  • Sparkling Upgrade: Replace club soda with sparkling rosé for a festive variation.

Hot Girl Summer Gin Smash Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 oz gin
  • 3 strawberries, quartered
  • 1 oz hot honey syrup (1 honey + 1 hot honey + 1 water)
  • 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
  • 3–5 mint leaves (fresh)
  • Club soda
  • Garnish: strawberry slice and mint sprig

Instructions

  1. Add hot honey syrup, fresh mint, and strawberries to a shaker or mixing glass.
  2. Gently muddle to release flavors.
  3. Add gin and lime juice, then stir.
  4. Fill a glass with ice and strain mixture in.
  5. Top with club soda.
  6. Garnish with a strawberry slice and mint sprig.

Note: you can skip the straining and just add ice to a glass to keep all of that delicious strawberry and mint flavor going.

Mocktail Version

Skip the gin and add 2 oz of sparkling water or non-alcoholic gin. You’ll still get that fruity, spicy-sweet refreshment with a bubbly lift. Trust me, my kids loved this one as a mocktail and they are picky drinkers!
