There’s something about guava that just screams vacation. Maybe it’s the lush, floral-fruity aroma, or the way its flavor balances between tangy and sweet without ever being cloying.
Either way, I’m always looking for new ways to bottle up that tropical magic—so this Guava Spritz was a no-brainer.

This cocktail is easygoing but dressed to impress. It’s got that effervescent sparkle from prosecco and club soda, mellowed out by a generous pour of homemade guava syrup.
Add a citrus twist on top, and it’s the kind of drink that makes any ordinary moment feel like a rooftop brunch or a beachy sunset.
Ironically, my guavas ripen in the winter here in California, not in the summer when I’m looking for tropical flavors, which is why I can and freeze my guava sauce to use all year long.
When to serve it
Perfect for brunch, happy hour, or when you want to trick your brain into thinking you’re lounging poolside somewhere fabulous.

How to Make Homemade Guava Syrup
Ingredients:
- 1 cup guava juice (preferably 100% juice, not from concentrate)
- ¾ cup sugar
- Optional: 1 teaspoon lime juice for a tangy twist
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, combine guava juice and sugar over medium heat.
- Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a gentle simmer.
- Let it simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat, stir in lime juice (if using), and let cool.
- Store in a sealed jar in the fridge for up a week or freeze it for up to about six months.
This syrup is sunshine in a bottle—try it in lemonade, iced tea, or even drizzled over pancakes if you’re feeling wild.
